Подскажите, пожалуйста, (вопрос наверное примитивный), как мне на внутренней таблице написать нечто типа

select distinct поле

увы, никак
если вам нужно удалить дубликаты - то DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES
если же удалять не нужно - то loop + события AT NEW или ON CHANGE
