Выделение строки в ALV Tree

Добрый день!

Столкнулся с проблемой:
Нарисовано дерево, нужно при нажатии на кнопку в тулбаре определить, какая строка была перед этим выделена.
Использую метод
CALL METHOD tree1->GET_SELECTED_ITEM
IMPORTING
E_SELECTED_NODE = l_selected_node
.
Метод отрабатывает корректно только один раз.
При повторных вызовах всё время возвращает пустое значение.
