Note 827413 - FI: Changeability of fields in FI documents

Symptom
You edit an FI document using transaction FB02, FBD2 or FBM2. You do not understand why some fields are not ready for input.

Reason and Prerequisites
This is due to inadequate Customizing.

Solution
1. The fields in question are not fields of the coding block.
Check whether the corresponding field is maintained correctly in the table TBAER. To do this, call transaction SM30 and display the view V_TBAER. Ensure that

a) the field is contained in the table
b) the rule for the existing case is correctly defined
c) the "Field Can Be Changed" indicator is selected
If all of the above is maintained correctly and the field still cannot be changed, check whether you are working in the client with a Special Purpose Ledger. Fields that are used in the FI-SL field movement are not usually changeable. To see whether this is the case, use transaction SE37 to execute the function module G_CHECK_FIELD_USED_IN_GLX in the single test for the affected field. If you receive the export parameter with RC <> 0, it is the case described above. In this context, see also Note 79760.

If you have checked these points and the field still cannot be changed, it may not be possible to change this field at all. This can be seen in the field attributes on the screen. This type of field is defined only as an output field and does not contain a value in modification group 3.

2. The field in question is a field of the coding block.
Ensure that not only the correct Customizing settings of the TBAER table for the fields are maintained correctly, but also the table TCOBX. Fields that are not contained in the table TCOBX are displayed only. For more information, see Note 29708.
