Мне не совсем понятно, когда надо ставить endselect, а когда не надо. Потомучто иногда выходит ошибка, а иногда не выходит.

Гм... не вдаваясь в подробности - ENDSELECT не ставится при SELECT SINGLE или при SELECT ... INTO ... TABLE
Но! Самым настоятельным образом рекомендую почитать BC400

Еще при использование агрегатных функций MAX, MIN, COUNT, AVG, при котором подразумевается возврат только одного значения, а не списка.

Code:
tables: ekpo.
SELECT MAX( netwr ) FROM ekpo INTO ekpo-netwr.
