Определение типа символа

Добрый день!
Столкнулся я со следующей проблемой.
Мне необходимо некий инт побитово загнать в таблицу такого типа
Code:

  DATA: BEGIN OF temp_data OCCURS 0,
        xchar(1) TYPE x.
  DATA  END OF temp_data.

Делать я это пытаюсь так:
Code:

DO len TIMES.
     off1 = sy-index - 1.
     MOVE err_chk+off1 TO temp_data.
    APPEND temp_data.
ENDDO.

Вот и возник вопрос, а как собственно определить len?
Хотел было просто проверять на каждой итерации err_chk+off1.
Определять, пока оно число - продолжать, как только перестанет им быть, прекратить ввод... но порывшись в командах ABAP я пришел к выводу, что в нем нет оператора проверки символа на принадлежность к numeric или alpabetic.
Подскажите как выйти из ситуации, пожалуйста Rolling Eyes

Можно попробовать так:
Code:

  CLEAR BITNO.
  DO.
     ADD 1 TO BITNO.
     GET BIT BITNO OF DATA_INT INTO TEMP_DATA-XCHAR.
     IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
         EXIT.
     ENDIF.
     APPEND TEMP_DATA.
  ENDDO.

DATA_INT - соответственно ваше число в переменной типа I

ЗЫ. а команда проверки символа на цифу:
Code:

   if char1 ca '0123456789'.
       ...
   endif.
